Tasmania’s Southern Vineyards Open Wine Weekend is a wonderful annual event held in March, this year from 2-3 March, giving both small and larger wineries the opportunity to open their vineyards to the public to sample what they have to offer.
Each year there seems to be a growing number vineyards open for tasting with many new winemakers getting the opportunity to show their skills through the sampling of their product.
Make sure you get a copy of the program from The Mercury and map out a wine route – there is no way possible that you will get to them all – certainly if you only have one day up your sleeve.
Spread all across the South of Tasmania and up the East Coast big, small, old and new wineries, vineyards, producers and growers will be opening their cellar doors or simply putting up a trestle table in their garage or among the vines for you to sample their wine varieties.
Why not get yourself a group together and hire a driver so that you can take in the beautiful scenery, some good food and wonderful wines without having to worry about drink-driving.
You will also find that many of the vineyards will be offering special release wines or wines at special prices so make sure you take some cash or the credit card and allow some space in the vehicle for your bargain buys!
Whichever part of the State you head and whatever vineyard you visit you’re bound to have a great time.
Iced Vovo is heading out tomorrow for some Wine Weekend exploration (and to top up the wine rack!) so look out for pictures from our Tasmanian Wine Weekend adventure up soon!
