Mr Iced Vovo and I have been watching the daily activities of a pair of Plovers that have set up their nest right over our back fence.
One used to sit on the nest nearly all day without much movement. And if one got up the other would take its place sitting on the nest.
Then the chicks arrived:
And they continue to grow…
I came home to find the family pecking in the front lawn but when I raced inside and came out with the camera they got shy and started running up the street:
This little one was left behind before making a mad dash to catch the others – thus the distorted image.
They scampered around to the reserve out the back of the house but were still refusing to get their photo taken.
But be warned – don’t get too close to them as the parents will swoop and chase you away! We have witnessed them chasing away other birds, dogs, people and anything else that comes, what they consider, too near to their nest and chicks!
