Mr Iced Vovo, Mum and I had a lovely day at the Test Cricket on Sunday 16 December watching Australia play Sri Lanka at Blundstone Arena at Bellerive.
While the game was a little slow, (at one stage Mum did make some comment about watching paint dry…) it was still a great way to while-away a day.
We saw the last of the Sri Lankan wickets eventually fall and Australia come on for a few minutes before Tassie’s unpredictable weather brought on the rain again (it had been on and off all day) and the players went off. At this juncture it was about 5.30ish and so we decided to call it a day ourselves.
The hero of the day was Jordan Silk the replacement player for Ben Hilfenhaus who went off with a side strain injury. We saw Silk stop a number of fours, positioned along the square fence, before he caught Nuwan Kulasekara with a lovely field catch at deep mid wicket.
There was just over 4,000 in attendance at the match but if you take into account Tassie’s population this isn’t a bad turnout! Perhaps the people who are continually making comments about low putner turn-out have forgotten to do their sums… How many do you expect to get taking in to account per head of population and one week prior to Christmas engagements!
