I like nothing better than a glass of bubbly to pick up my spirits (some pun intended!) and I am always on the look out for a new one to try to add to my stable of favourites. And, what better opportunity to try some of Tassie’s best was at The Taste of Tasmania festival held each year after Christmas at the Princes Wharf in Hobart.
It was at The Taste that Mr Iced Vovo encouraged me to try Cape Bernier’s Sparkling wine after he had read about it in a newspaper feature on the winery. While Mr Iced Vovo doesn’t touch a drop of anything alcoholic he is always encouraging of me having a topple or two! (Thank goodness I have a partner whom lets me do as I please!) So, how could I say no! And, it was only a taste or two of the Sparkling Rose Cuvee that was needed for me to fall instantly in love with the smooth taste, blush of colour and perfect effervescence. This is an absolutely delightful drink suitable for all occasions and with a variety of foods.
Cape Bernier is a boutique winery located in the picturesque Bream Creek area South East of Hobart. Specialising in cool climate wines Cape Bernier has received a 4.5 Star rating with wines rated from 89 to 94 points in the James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2013.
Being a boutique wine means that stock is limited and that wines do sell out fast. Cape Bernier does offer a wine club where members receive a share of all first release wines and are privy to special deals and other exclusive offers.
Currently in the Cape Bernier range are the following: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Rose, Cabernet Merlot, Sparkling Cuvee Rose and a Sparkling Cuvee.
Cape Bernier offer a number of sample packs /membership packs that will suit all palates and budgets with customers able to pick and choose out of the range of wines. There is a minimum of six (6) bottles for shipping orders.
I’m looking forward to heading down to Bream Creek soon for a visit to the winery itself and to try out more of their delicious wines.
