Visiting Sydney recently I was there predominantly to catch up with a couple of dear old mates and to visit the Frida Khalo exhibition at the NSW Art Gallery and as such I pretty much based myself at the hotel.
On the Saturday night the first friend I caught up with also booked herself into the hotel and so we decided that rather than wasting time going out (we had over 20 years to update each other on) we would try the Primus Hotel Lobby Bar for drinks and dinner and we were not disappointed.
If anything we over-ordered as the portion sizes turned out to be far bigger than we anticipated – but gee the quality was fabulous! Here’s what we had:
Sydney Rock Oysters
Salt & pepper squid – Herb aioli, chilli
Lamb shoulder croquet – Panko crumbed, papaya salad
Charcuterie board – Wagyu bresaola, truffle salami, nduja
Cheese board – Chef’s selection of 3 cheeses with traditional condiments
Shoe string Fries
Accompanied by a couple of bottles of Jansz Sparkling Wine
The next night after a busy day I opted for Thai at a nearby restaurant where I had a very tasty Penang Curry vegetables and a couple of bottles of beer but not before having a nice refreshing beer and complimentary nibbles in the Lobby.
The following day I had organised to meet my other dear friend and her son up from Albury at the Art Gallery and they too booked themselves in to Primus Hotel that night so that we could use our time to best advantage. After our days adventures we came back for a swim at the rooftop pool before again choosing the Lobby Bar for dinner.
This time we shared:
Stir fried Hokkien noodle – Duck, chicken, oyster sauce, Asian greens and
Vegetarian fried rice – Preserved vegetable paste with sweet corn, peas
Whilst Jacob went for Fish & chips – Beer battered market fish, tartare sauce, fries.
Again, we could not find fault with the food, service or drinks.
Pop back next time to see some shots of my wanderings around Sydney.
