I fell in love with John Fluevog shoes on my trip to New York last year where I purchased the wonderful Vegan Prepare Guide Leader Shoes in a wonderful whimsical denim fabric that you can read about in the post How I became Vegan in SoHo.
Since then I have been ogling the Fluevog website looking at all the new and wonderful shoes that John Fluevog and his team are making to tempt shoe lovers both men and women alike!
I’ve also been scouring around various websites for discounted Fluevogs ready to pounce on a bargain and luckily for me I hit the jackpot nabbing these fabulous pair of Tapestry Munster Fluevogs on Polyvore from the Urban Outfitters for less than half price!
The shoes arrived safely nicely boxed inside a box with the Fluevog dust-bag and they are stunning! The Munsters are definitely a statement shoe! The funky platform layer and sculptured heel give your leg a long line. The fabric is rich and luscious tapestry that has a wonderful mix of colours that will make them adaptable to wear with clothes of all shades.
The Munster shoe was re-issued for Fluevog’s 40th Anniversary, which saw John re-release his favorite styles from each decade, and for the 90s the hugely sought after Munsters made a come-back!
As it says on the Fluevog site the Munsters were: “Made famous first by Lady Miss Kier who wore the iconic platforms on the cover of Deee-lite’s debut album World Clique, then by Madonna who wore the sexy 4″ Louis IV heel in Truth or Dare, the Munsters have long become the symbol of the ’90s House/Club underground DJ scene. Reintroduced with floral brocades, soft suedes, or stamped embossed glossy leathers on tunite soles and brested heels, and including the 40th Anniversary buckle, The Munsters are an exact re-issue of the original groovy classic. A limited edition produced in small numbers, make sure you grab the Munsters while you can! “Groove is in the Heart.”
My Munsters have a lovely leather lace-up front rather than the buckle and despite being “tall” shoes are extremely comfortable to wear. I am NOT a high heel shoe wearer but do find a sensible wedge or platform a perfect alternative and these are just the ticket!
I know these shoes are going to be perfect in all seasons and will look great with a pair of jeans, an edgy dress or a classic skirt.
