Ideas to get your New Year’s Eve party started…

Ok Christmas comes first but then before you know it New Years Eve is upon us. I’m not usually one for a a lot of hullabaloo at New Year, last year we caught up with friends at Hobart Wharf (my first Taste of Tassie New Year experience) but the few years prior to that we have escaped up to Bridport to Barnbougle Dunes to play golf and chill out away from it all. This year is going to be very low key, perhaps a bbq and or nibblies at home we haven’t quiet decided as yet. What ever we do there will always be bubbly!

However I am thinking that may change next year if I ever get into this damn house Mr Iced Vovo and I have been planning for over 3 years!

Anyway, you are all probably seasoned party-goes out there but here are just a small selection of food, wine and party treats that I have found that won’t break the budget that you may want to throw into the mix:

Look in your freezer aisle at Coles, Woolworths, or your local supermarket to find tasty treats to help take the hassle out of entertaining. Why not try some of my favs such as these Butterfly prawns filled with wasabi mayo or sweet chilli sauce, coated in a crispy breadcrumb.

Or add something new to the cheese platter such as this Goats cheese in Ash from Coles.

Patties party pack East meets West should satisfy all tastes with a combo or party pies and sausage rolls plus spring rolls and money bags too.

A fav in our home is Borg’s Pastizzis, particularly the spinach and ricotta variety.

I can’t go past bubbly at New Year and with so many great Tassie varieties to choose from pop down to your local bottle shop and find out what’s on special.  I picked up some Bay of Fires Tigress bubbles while they had 30% off recently.

Want to keep the festive spirit going with the decorations? I know I do… Found this cute martini glasses, balloons and hat garland through GFetti on Etsy for $19.69.

Perhaps you ‘re having a themed party – what about using these masks to jazz up the festivities – can’t wait to see the pictures at the end of the night! Available from LittleRetreats on Etsy – $31 for a mix of eight masks.

Don’t you hate when someone nicks off with your glass, well keep tabs on your beverage with this set of six Kikkerland Dapper ‘Staches Silicone drink markers – there’s no need to keep them for movember use them anytime of the year! Available on Amazon.com for $8.70

Let me know what some of your party favourites are too and I’ll store them up for next years blog. Hopefully I’m going to need them for the New Year celebrations in my new home! Don’t worry you’ll be able to follow the building progress as and when it starts with me via Iced Vovo!!!
