About me

Where have the years gone?

Hi, I’m Joanne. I was born in St Kilda, but I have been lucky enough to live across Australia and overseas with my Airforce parents before settling in Richmond, NSW. After university I lived in Leichhardt, NSW, for about 15 years before moving to Tasmania in December 2004.

Completing a Bachelor of Arts (Communications) Journalism, I spent 13 ‘odd’ years in the media industry working as a journalist, public relations consultant and desktop publisher working for various government, private businesses and establishing my own small business. I then worked in the travel industry as an International Consultant before I returned to tertiary studies and after completing a Graduate Diploma in Education with Distinction taught English and Media Studies to High School Students.

Since moving to Tasmania at the end of 2004 I have completed a Masters in Professional Communication and have been pursuing my love of poetry writing. I published my first collection entitled Fragments in 2013 and, if you’re interested, it is available through the shop section of this blog as well as from any good book shop.

This is my first attempt at a blog. I hope to make it fun and interactive, with my (and your) comments, on everything I love in life such as creative writing, fashion, food, travel, films, music and more.
